Our Horses

The backbone of a lesson program is the school horses. Being a school horse is hard work because the horse must learn to accept many different riders and be forgiving of mistakes as the rider is learning. Not every horse is willing to do this job. I try to make sure that none of the Myrewyn school horses work full time and so some are privately owned and only work part time, and others owned by Myrewyn get days off from lessons to do a trail ride or a ride with an advanced rider. And of course, each horse gets a “weekend” to just be a horse and relax. You can read a little bit about each of our available horses below.

Please note that none of my school horses jump higher than 2’3” in lessons because they are ridden frequently and this would be too hard on them. If you wish to progress past this height I am happy to help you find a horse to lease or purchase that can progress with you.

Adora

Adora is a 15.0 bay Arabian mare. She is extremely social and will wait at the gate for you when she gets to know you. Adora likes to jump and is available for riders who are confident and balanced in the saddle. Adora does not like to have a lot of different riders so we try to find a few she gets along with and stick with that. Because of a past injury to her back, Adora prefers a saddle with shorter panels so her rider size is limited to those who can ride in her smaller saddle.

Pippin

Pippin is a darling 14.3 Appaloosa gelding. He has springy gaits and a fun personality and has experience in both jumping and dressage. Pippin is available to be ridden by any level at the walk and trot but is a little trickier for cantering and jumping.
